If you are wondering what types of school uniforms do students from other countries wear, we’ll here’s what they wear:

United Kingdom – The modernized version of school uniform in England consists of a polo shirt, sweatshirt or t-shirt, and casual types of pants such as cargo or tracksuit pants. Dark and cool colors such as brown, blue, black, grey and maroon are dominant in uniforms of English students. Some male students still use blazers and tie to make them look smart and formal, and to avoid being bullied. The school badge is sewn on the blazer. For girls, they wear either pants or skirt, kilted or tailored, depending on the tradition of the school.

Singapore – Wearing uniform is compulsory for all public and private sectors of schools in Singapore. For boys, they wear either shorts or trousers. For girls, it’s pinafore or skirt with blouse and shorts underneath. Blazers and ties are only worn for special occasions since the country has a tropical climate. Hence, the school badge is sewn on the shirt or blouse for girls. Almost all schools necessitate wearing of white socks and white shoes. For boys in the primary level of education, they are required to wear shorts. They can only wear pants when they start secondary 3, or in some schools, secondary 4.

Philippines – In the Philippines, wearing of uniforms is common in all levels, but some schools allow students to wear civilian clothes. Male students usually wear polo shirt and slacks in brown, black, green, blue, or khaki, while the female ones are often seen wearing blouse, ribbon or necktie, and long, pleated skirt. For international schools, boys’ uniform includes blazer and tie.

Australia – Australia follows British tradition when it comes to uniforms. For boys, uniform consists of grey long trousers (or short trousers during summer) and button-down shirt. For the girls, it varies from culottes, jumpers, dresses, pants, shorts and blouses and/or polo shirts. In private schools, uniform comes with a blazer, hat and tie for both genders. A special kind of uniform is also used during physical education, which includes shorts, tennis skirts/netball skirts, and leggings.

It’s Monday and you just came to your first class. Your teacher / professor introduces today’s lesson. He discusses, and you listen. Then suddenly you remembered you went to your friend’s birthday party last night and as a consequence, you haven’t had enough sleep. Now your eyes are slowly being dragged down by instinct. Slowly, your professor’s voice is fading into nothingness. Alas! You are snoring away in the middle of the class. Then your professor scolds you and you are suddenly the butt of jokes to your classmates.

Sleep plays a major factor in growth and development of a Student. It also affects peoples’ behavior, temperament and learning ability. Studies show that sleep deprivation may cause IQ levels to temporarily decline. True enough, when one is drowsy, one tends to be weak in reasoning and memory. So if you have experienced problems like these, it’s time act now. Here are some suggestions to avoid sleeping at class:

Eat a healthy breakfast containing key nutrients like protein and energy-boosting carbohydrates. Examples are eggs and fruits.

If you feel like you need to take vitamin supplements, then do. But consult your doctor first to know what’s right for you.

Get at least eight hours of shut-eye. Avoid partying when you have a class the next day. Or at least leave early so that you have enough time to rest for tomorrow.

Avoid watching too much television, especially late night programs. Discipline yourself.

Drinking milk or reading a book before bedtime may help you to sleep early. Before you go to sleep, avoid drinks containing caffeine, such as coffee and tea.

Free yourself from emotional baggage especially before sleeping. Rest your mind even for a while. Thinking or worrying too much about your problems might make you restless.

Don’t rely on drinking coffee alone to keep you awake. Coffee may give you a quick energy boost, but its effects may also decline in just a few hours. The end result is you’ll feel sleepy again.

Make sure your bedroom is comfortable and relaxing. Check if your pillows and bedding are comfortable enough. Also, a quiet, cool and dark room is perfect for sleeping.

Middle School Students are generally looking forward in meeting new people and making new friends, but the problem is that older students bully them which results to more abscenses, lower grades etc. What we need to do is to make the environment more supportive on the student’s needs and continue to challenge them academically. The transitions needs that the students are able to get a glimpse of what it will be like in high school and their parents are also given the information as well (especially the curriculum). It also needs to have Social support in place to generally give support to students that have a hard time. The whole point is to make the transition smooth by preparing them thru self learning, responsibility and family involvement.

Middle School Students are in a tough transition from elementary to high school, teaching middle school students is not the easiest task at all and may not be for everyone. One of the biggest challenge is respect towards authority, they love to question and challenge authorities which makes it very difficult. Being a teacher for these students requires a lots of understanding, and you’d know how to handle problematic students vs. the obedient students. It’s recommended to have 15 students or less to give the best education for the students. But nothing beats being able to shape someone’s future, teaching middle school students will shape their lives forever and being able to contribute to that is just priceless.
